India's second government sponsored tablet is announced. Ubislate 7 is here to challenge its elder brother Aakash, the first low cost tablet in India. Aakash was sold out within a few days after its online launch last week. Seeing the success of Aakash, tablet maker, Data Wind is has come out with another 7-inch model, the Ubislate 7. Announced few weeks back, the tablet is available for pre-orders at the price of $57 ( 3,018.65) which means $10 more than Aakash.

While Aakash featured 2.2 Android, the Ubislate 7 comes with Android 2.3. Featuring a 7-inch touch screen with 800x480 resolutions, it also sports Cortex A8 - 700 MHz CPU. With new 3200 mAh battery it will give a battery life of 3 hours. The other features are Wi-Fi and GPRS connectivity, HD video playback, 256 MB RAM, one USB 2.0 port and 2GB internal storage, which can be expanded to 32GB via microSD. Aakash will have a tough competition when the Ubislate 7 hits the markets. Indian customers can expect to have hands on experience of the Ubislate next month. DataWind will produce, via QUAD Electronics in Hyderabad, about 1,000 units daily.
